I grew up in Texas in the 80s and 90s, watching Thundercats and the original Star Wars trilogy. I was raised on mac & cheese, peanut butter sandwiches, and too many casseroles (but the cheesy broccoli & rice one is never too much). I read The Boxcar Children and every book in the library with the dog and cat sticker on the spine. My childhood was spent in the land of Buc-ees (back when it was a regular little gas station with exceptional restrooms), hiking on the Brazos River, and singing from the old Baptist hymnal.
I am the second of three kids,when I was born, my dad had gone back to college to finish his Bachelor’s degree so that he could go to seminary and become a pastor. Naturally, I grew up in church. I can’t even remember a time when I wasn’t a believer, though I clearly remember making official my decision to follow Christ and being baptized.
